I mean, the greatest Forsaken battle was Lanfears' IMHO, and she literally just started walking towards Rand and a wagon killing everyone and everything around her with no real strategy planned out aside from her general preference of attacking from the flanks and using Shadowspawn to occupy Rands' forces in the front.
I understand that these are our heroes, but this string of "bad luck" really trivializes their threat and makes them seem like a cast of Disney villains, so I'd rather just say they are stupid and their anachronistic behavior is what is killing them. After all, technically speaking, the Age of Legends, as wonderful as it was with technology and etc, was less evolved than the current breed of humans in the 3rd Age.
And how would you fare in the less evolved medieval era? The current people are probably tougher, since the Forsaken seem to thing that the heights of contemporary luxury are appallingly primitive conditions. They have "evolved" to take certain basics as given or assumed, and in a world where those things are no longer to be taken for granted, they are less able to cope. Being better able to cope on a primitive level suggests less evolution on the part of contemporary people, along with the generally overrated value of evolution.

I don't believe in luck, so I tend to think they were incompetent and didn't adequately plan.

That's not evolution, that's what follows evolution, cleaning up its messes. *NM*

Nope, it's evolution. It's the real world that "cleans up" the messes/less useful mutations. *NM*
