I think the DO's power is generated off of Chaos

And I wish I'd found that quote a while back, when everyone was debating how useless the Chosen seem, how they're not doing the sorts of things we'd expect super-powerful channelers to do, etc.
I think those conversations would've gone a little differently if everyone saw proof that all the Chosen aren't just playing it safe.

It seems the Forsaken are usually somewhat constricted and not allowed to massively attack main players on the Lightside yet, because they seem to be more valuable as pawns, e.g. Egwene (the Cleansing was an exception, though, and Moridin at least gave the order now to kill the other two ta'veren). This is also illustrated by the fact that Moridin even personally saves Rand's life during the confrontation with Sammael in the end of ACoS. I really hope all this will make sense in the end, when/if we eventually learn the real "master plan" of the DO.
In the AoL it took 50 years of the "Collapse" before the DO and his minions were powerful enough to strike. Obviously in the current Age it's a easier to create Chaos and thus fuel the DOs power. Each of the main characters would have been easy sources for generating Chaos, or at least prolonging existing Chaos (as with Egwene). Why kill off such a valuable source? Note that Mesaana has no problem having Egwene deposed once they realize she is actually "a woman in with a girls face".

Mesaana's more likely. There just isn't enough time for it to be the Seanchan, imo *NM*
