That would precisely fit with the comparison of another Forsaken playing the "game" of impersonating Sammael (most likely Graendal, who likes to play mind-games). The nondescript disguise of Slayer's patron doesn't really fit with that.


It doesn't fit exactly, but as I said it does fit more generally with Aran'gar dealing sneekily with other agents of the Shadow.

Also Demandred's thoughts at the Cleansing and his statement in TGS, prologue make clear that he most likely didn't send the DF Asha'man or Slayer:
I want Lews Therin," Demandred said, his voice deep, his expression dark, as always. "Semirhage knows that. She also knows that if she'd killed him, I would have found her and claimed her life in retribution. Nobody kills al'Thor. Nobody but me."


That's a very good point. It does seem highly unlikely Demandred would have ordered the DF Asha'man or Slayer, given that quote.

Consequently, it makes the most sense to me that Osan'gar was Slayer's patron in WH, because he wanted to prevent another confrontation with Rand at the Cleansing.


It's possible Aran'gar was responsible for both Slayer and the DF Asha'man. Although, if she did disguise herself as Demandred when ordering the DF Asha'man, it does beg the question why she didn't do the same thing with Slayer.

I agree that Osan'gar is as good a candidate, but if that's the case then it can't/won't be revealed in-story, since I don't expect we'll see him resurrected again. That's really the only reason I prefer Aran'gar as a candidate - if it was she, it can still be revealed in-story.
