The Seanchen as a whole are better rulers RabidWombat Send a noteboard - 21/07/2010 04:21:09 AM
She is a better ruler than most of those on the Randland side of the ocean. She is tough, self-controlled, in command, and wise.

Really? I'd like to know the plenty of examples of rulers in the Randland that Tuon is better of. Better than Morgaise was? Better than Elayne is? Better than any Borderland ruler is? How exactly?

I'll give you Tarabon rulers. They are dumb. But saying she's better than "most" of Randland rulers is just not true.

I think it is safe to say that the Seanchen rule is better then most countries on this side of the Ocean, with Andor, Tar Valon, and Borderlands probably exempted. They bring order and justice for both high and low. Even Rand notes it during the height of his paranoia.

That is quite different from Tuon, herself, being a better ruler, though, since the same was true with Suroth in charge. She hasn't had enough time to prove herself as a good ruler. I was overall pleased with her job in tGS and her temperament, compassion, sense of justice and of duty all seem to be higher than a typical high lord or high lady in most countries.

She is willing to revise her pre-conceived notions. That is something we almost never see in leaders and nobility.

Really? Again, I'd like to see an example of pre-conceived notion Tuon has revised. And please don't give me Mat examples, we are talking about rulers notions, not a bride-to-be. And I would really love to see examples of "never see in leaders" of Randland.

To me it doesn't matter about what issue she alters her pre-conceived notion about. If she is able to do it in one area of her life she should be able to do it in others. Certainly, she has been, and remains, stubborn about many pre-conceived notions that she should change. Her attitude about chanelling is one of them. In TGS, we see her reaction to Beslan's oath and her willingness to meet with Rand as two ways that Tuon has changed her mind when many lesser rulers might not have.
