No. That doesn't imply they are seperate beings. That implies RJ didn't want to spell it out for you. He wanted to keep this hidden, but he wanted all the hints to be right there in the books.

The way Slayer is forged together is -in essence- all one big clue.

RJ wants you to know how Slayer works. And at the same time he doesn't want you to figure out just yet how his 'ace up his sleeve' for the Last Battle works.

RJ is fooling you all. (and apperently it's working)
