2. The person that was killed by the gholam is probably Lopin. Lopin would be the person that was in Mat's tent when the gholam struck-- plus Mat was thinking about having his stitches repaired earlier in the chapter.
All we know it that Mat smells blood. That implies only that there is enough to smell. Not necessarily a dead person, and not necessarily someone the gholam killed.
You can speculate all you want but I'm gonna wait till 11/2, there simply isn't enough info for me to form an opinion.
