I don't recall hearing that Reds are power hungry. That's the best description I can think of for Elaida though. Also vengeful. In fact, it doesn't seem like she was even power hungry until she started hating Siuan and Moiraine, and her reason for being power hungry was because Siuan became Amyrlin.

She's just an obsessed crazy person. I guess if she had joined the blue her "cause" would have been to bring Siuan and Moiraine down . It's kind of funny thinking back. Siuan and Moiraine are the basis for almost everything she does in the entire series. Before they came along and were mean at her she was just interested in the good of the tower. She was excited that Siuan and Mo were going to be powerful channelers.

I get your points but I do feel like most of the people with her personality do end up in the Red, even though it's never remarked by anyone that Reds are particularly ambitious.
