Re: You are assuming you would have full knowledge of what was happening. Knightscape Send a noteboard - 11/10/2010 04:46:19 PM
Any one of us would be a peasant, most likely, at best we'd be lucky enough to be born into a noble family. Either way, like most of randland, we'd think the DO just planned to remake the world and we'd still be existing within his new little hell for us. We would not know that everything/everyone ceases to exist.

If they do not know that everything/everyone ceases to exist then he needs to tell them. Then tell them some more. Have others tell them.

Then you'd have to be in a position where you'd know what was going on truthfully in the first place. Due to the lack of press in Randland, news travels on rumor and it's most likely to be that you do not have an accurate appraisal of events.

That news travels is all the more reason he needs to get his message out. Tell the people what they need to hear in order for them to follow him. Tell them pretty much the opposite of what the white cloaks were telling them.

it's "Grateful".

Lastly, you're assuming there'd be a POINT to you following the Dragon Reborn. What're you going to do, coop some barrels for him? What if you were born a shoemaker, or a baker? What if you're merely a clumsy merchant's guard?

There could be many ways to support or follow the Dragon Reborn, from making boots for the military, to growing food(or at least trying to grow food), making barrels, turning your scythe into a weapon (like in TGS) or just verbally supporting him if there is no other option.

hmmm, a clumsy merchant's guard eh? Carry lots of bandages?

You're extrapolating what you would do with full and accurate knowledge of all events on the people of randland, most of which are powerless against events and have NO idea what's really going on. given the technology levels, it would be almost impossible for rand to "PR" enough to make up for the lack of information being given and people would still have to be wiling to trust that information!!!

Any good PR is better than none. If he isn't telling people what to think others surely will be telling them.

All good things come to those who wait.

The people of Randland need him - 11/10/2010 01:26:48 PM 485 Views
He's not hated. He is feared because of the inevitable destruction salvation will bring. - 11/10/2010 02:18:30 PM 484 Views
particularly since most of them are totally powerless. - 11/10/2010 03:17:49 PM 390 Views
It makes sense to fear the times and the DO; The Dragon Reborn less so - 11/10/2010 03:18:56 PM 377 Views
their previous "rescue" broke the world anyways. - 11/10/2010 03:24:09 PM 387 Views
The previous "rescue" saved the world but at great cost - 11/10/2010 03:39:18 PM 425 Views
And where do you see people (other than dark friends and politicals) denying that? - 11/10/2010 03:49:27 PM 393 Views

yes, and it's still a reason to FEAR the dragon reborn. - 11/10/2010 03:56:32 PM 401 Views
