The author knows where all the leads, false and otherwise go, so if he leaves us a trail of bread crumbs into a blind alley just so he can jump out and shout, "GOTCHA!" my initial response is "yes, you deliberately withheld information vital to learning the truth AND deliberately set out false ones to convince us otherwise. " Imagine I were babysitting your two year old and at the end of the day/nite/month/whatever you come home:

"Watch this, " I tell you with a smirk. Then I turn to the two year old and ask, "Can you count to ten for mommy?" after which you hear her say, "17, 5, 39, 715, 33, 4373, 12, 25, 815, 10!" Then I smack her and say, "No, IDIOT, it's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10!" Then I turn back to you, grin restored and say, "It took me ALL DAY to teach her to count it wrong, but it was worth it; isn't that FUNNY?"
