Egwene has been opposing him all her life. The Pattern is setting up something grand to save Rand from a mistake.


You know, I would be really disappointed if this turns out to be the case. Rand has been a crazy idiot for most of the series. First with his bizarre "cannot-kill-women" thing and his other silly decisions, and later on when he went totally insane from the taint/TP/torture and became a psychopathic dark!Rand. Now he has apparently returned to sanity, understands his path and got all of LTT's memories (I presume?) and has some super!ta'veren aura that causes his very presence to keep the DO at bay, and he is apparently _STILL_ making foolish mistakes that Egwene has to save him from. Blergh. :(

There is only _one_ book left after ToM. Is it really too much to ask for Rand to actually be an actual hero for a little while and make good and proper decisions for a change. Maybe lilltempest is right and it turns out that Egwene is the real hero of the story and always was. Rand was just a decoy. But I really hope not. I really hope Egwene is the one who is wrong this time.
