But remember, it won't actually cut their life span in half, because of Egwene's plan to have Aes Sedai be released from the oaths and join the Kin when they decide to retire from being Aes Sedai.


Is this confirmed in the book? I always thought this was just Egwene speculating without any real evidence to back it up.

How does the Oath Rod work? Does it accelerate the aging irreversibly, or add years that you get back upon Oath removal?

A good question that people in world don't know the answer to yet, and only time will tell.


It could well be that the old AS who plan to retire to the kin and think they are going to get several hundred more years of life, will have a very unpleasant surprise waiting for them when removing the oaths won't undo a lifetime of being bound. Unless we get proof in the book?


We already have proof from the books. When Siuan and Leane were stilled, the oaths were lifted from them and they reverted back to the age they would have been if they hadn't sworn on the oath rod and cut their life in half/gained the ageless look.
