I can confidently say that I am impartial in this.

I never knew who did it. Sure, I had some ideas, but I was never crusading for the Graendal camp, or Slayer camp, or Lanfear camp. So it's not like I had some personal stake in this.

I just happened to find the Asmodean character really interesting. Furthermore, I greatly enjoyed the interactions between Rand, Asmodean and the other characters.

I'm fine with Graendal being the killer. I just thought that the reveal was infinitely anti-climatic, and too vague.

Why did she do it?

From the way events have played out, it is safe to say that both Aran'gar and Mesaana were victims of their surroundings. They were at the wrong place at the wrong time, and Graendal is not some master killer.

Then why did she go for Asmo? Why not Sammael, Demandred, Mesaana or Semirhage?

I mean from what we know, it makes more sense for Semirhage, or Mesaana to kill Asmo... Semirhage who delights in pain and killing, and Mesaana "I'm-so-angry-and-hands-on".

One could argue that they (Mesaana and Semi) had not been fleshed out at that point of the story.

Then why not craft (and share!) the story that you make? Why was Graendal so close-mouthed about it? Asmodean had defected in their eyes so should she not be proud of killing him? Both Moridin and SH refer to Asmo's death as blows to the Shadow which makes the matter even more confusing.

I sincerely hope we get some more illumination from Graendal on this affair.

I'm happy that we have a result, but I wish we were give a tangible motive.
