The problem with the Aviendha passage is that it was told way too late; TGS and ToM should have been told chronologically to elucidate Rand's descent into darkness. Aviendha's scenes in Rhuidean should have been one of the final chapters in TGS, rather than late in ToM. In ToM, the scene falls terribly flat since we already know that Rand has changed from DarkRand to ZenRand and everything she saw in the glass columns is exceedingly unlikely.
