i think it would be a stronger subplot if demandred was in control of shara, the beasts of the blight or the isle of madmen. why would the armies of one small nation matter so much, UNLESS he is using murandy as his staging point (i.e., it is a very central nation and will use it to attack from within)? but that means that he's somehow been hiding hundreds of thousands of shadowspawn within the boarders; is it remotely possible that someone didn't see that?

There's no point in securing Murandy as a staging point... The Shadow is moving to seize Caemlyn. Look no further for the Shadow's central staging point in TG, its main base outside the Blight It's Caemlyn they've chosen. The BT has been secured by the dreamspike - thr Lightsiders are being turned, the Shadow is now moving to get rid of the city, its armies, and to secure the Waygate that will be a main exit point for the Shadowspawn.

Expect the Shadow to also move early for Cairhien and Tear. Other Waygates secured, and Portal Stones to move the Shadowspawn around.

Mesaana has failed her part of the plan. The Shadow won't have Tar Valon. The Light will retain one powerbase. Too bad Perrin has destroyed the dreamspike, though!

It think it's becoming obvious what the Ogier will do in TG... they are the only ones who can move in the Ways. The Ogier will hunt and fight the Shadowspawn there, trying to prevent the Shadowpawn from moving from the Blight to the Shadow controlled Waygates, and to reach the Portal Stones.

Murandy may be part of a Demandred scheme, but it would be a very small part of his plans. It doesn't make any sense for Demandred not to be the main field general of the Shadow in TG. Moridin will lead the war from the north. Demandred is in charge of the south. There are hints about his plans... he intends to destroy or capture everything Rand has conquered in a single blow. He will be moving for Caemlyn, Cairhien, Tear, Illian... he might seek to destroy Rhuidean just for the sake of it - in any case, I'm sure the Red Veils are part of his forces. So is the BT. Mesaana dead, he will no doubt inherit the whole that remains of the BA. There will no doubt be "surprise" forces in his army, but I think it's fairly clear Jordan kept one Forsaken general alive, and made him stand aside for almost all the series, because he will lead the military aspects of the War in the last book. Moridin isn't a general. His fight is with Rand, and at SG. It's Demandred who will lead the war south of the Blight.
