It demeans the Dark One to be a supremely evil being yet practice such petty, banal evil.
I prefer what Mierin described her punishment as being - getting your soul crushed, your mind tormented and your body subjected to agonizing pain for failure seems more worthy than raping or putting your minions in unexceptional or amusing bodies during transmigration.
The most disturbing part is that it makes the Dark One look lame and boring.
