I think that's his mind deceiving itself LadyLorraine Send a noteboard - 29/11/2010 07:19:05 PM
In order to justify Byar's extreme beliefs of Dragon=evil, Perrin=Evil-Incarnate, those CAN NOT be the Heroes. If they are the heroes, then the beliefs that Byar has clung to (however misguided, they are not evil by nature) will unravel.

He's already not incredibly stable; Galad could easily have been the catalyst for his mind to just lose it.

Byar is an extreme individual who is very tightly wound into his beliefs and inherently unstable. I don't think any compulsion was necessary, and I don't think Graendal needed to do a single thing. In fact, I doubt she had a thing to do with it. At the most, she knew of his volatility and "hoped". But I don't think she influenced his actions in the slightest.

Remember, unlike Aram and Masema, Byar has not changed his beliefs or his manner in the slightest. I think he contained himself more due to others' influences, but his behavior has not changed. I think there was just one too many straws on his mind and he SNAPPED.
