She's all about getting things done in the here and now, and preparing for the future. Her fierce loyalty to the people she loves is the way her love for her parents and sorrow over their loss comes out. She couldn't bear to lose Egwene because she lost her parents, and that led her to her first channeling. She keeps pushing to heal more "impossible" things... if she hadn't been orphaned early, I don't think she would have the same drive to heal.
