1) Masema, Graendal, and Asunawa are hardly 'innocent people'

Actually, Masema, Asunawa and Aram were all tragic figures. They began as moral people (a loyal follower of the Dragon, a Child of the Light, a Tinker) and were corrupted by the Shadow or by power.
