Prior to Elaida, damane didn't know about reversing weaves. Basically, Alivia was fighting blind and was never trained to do so. Cyndane, on the other hand, has centuries of working "blinded" so to speak.
Well how about just shielding Cyndane's ass?
Someone sending a shield at you with 3-4 times or more of your total strength really isnt something you can stop or slice.
