WOT for this is a lost cause, IMO. To make it work, they'd have to change what makes WOT WOT too much. Some stories are meant to remain in written form, and I think WOT is one of those.

While I agree with what you said, you missed a very interesting point: the WOT books aren't, as you say, good to be "translated" to cinema or TV... but the world is.
What could really work, and work very well if properly done, would be some new stories (or side-stories) set in the same universe, during the same time.

Of course, you would need a skilled writer, but apart from that and a budget slightly higher than usual, it would be an almost-guaranteed success: (1) you don't piss off fans (unless you do some stupid and easily-avoidable mistake), (2) you have an excellent world to work with, (3) you do not have to be constrained by specific stories already written for another medium.
