To be fair Perrin also assumed his cultural standards would be the norm and never made any effort to understand why it wasn't working until Elyas spelled it out for him, even though his in-laws gave him a good suggestion of it. And Faile has made efforts to adapt as well.


Yes, but Perrin didn't passive-agressively punish Faile for not living up to his cultural standards. Instead, he tried to fix whatever he was doing wrong. Yes, he was inept at it and ended up making the situation worse, but he was actually trying to make Faile feel better, not punishing her for not fitting into his idea of what a wife should be like. That's the difference.


Realising that Perrin didn't mean to offend her, Faile frequently pretended she wasn't, but Perrin knew anyway because he has supernatural senses. And as the readers we had to endure through it as well. It isn't really fair to blame Faile for being incapable of deceiving supermen, she was trying to adapt to Perrin's culture by acting unoffended, the problem is that you can change how you feel about something, only how you act or react.
The first rule of being a ninja is "do no harm". Unless you intend to do harm, then do lots of harm.
