Well, I'm assuming here since I don't know the details, but Lanfear should have been the most important "villian" in the series from a story POV (obviously Ishy/Moridin is the key balance to Rand) based on her obsession/connection to LTT and Rand. If Perrin killed her, she likely had a secondary role in AMOL.
As for "misuse", that is more based on the entire series and her essentially vanishing since book 5 (Lanfear was the best character early on.....so much potential wasted).

Perrin's an incredibly important character. Exactly how is being killed by him equal to being relegated to secondary status.
That apart, though, Lanfear is NOT the most important villain. Not even Moridin is.
