... couldn't Moridin have simply balefired himself, or taught the weave to someone else and had them do it to him? Wouldn't that remove him from the pattern? If that's all he wanted, what was stopping him?

I think RJ said once that balefire doesn't remove the soul from the rebirth-cycle.

Also, I liked it better when I thought Moridin, with his buddhist-like desire for escape from eternal rebirth, was the only one to get it.
