Just because Semi said such cases often result in terminal madness does not mean this is so. It may be that every case does, or 1 in 5, or 1 in 5,000, or 1 in 5 million, or none ever; we have no way of knowing.


Except we do. Lews Therin himself says that she rarely lies. From our experience with her i.e. her PoV's and Forsaken gatherings she doesn't lie. Semirhage has one unquestionably effective tactic, namely that the truth is horrific enough. As a sadist she doesn't gain anything by illusion and deception, like Graendal does. She gains results by verifiable pain that the victim is aware of. Like Ishamael, she enjoys the opportunity to tell Lews Therin that he's killed his whole family. The truth is bad enough - Rand is descending into madness, and she loves the effect and the realization it's having on his friends. Why would she lie when she can open their 'simple minds' and make them aware of the desperation of their own situation?
