Traveling is great, but since damanes are not suited to linking due to the a'dam, the gateway they can make will have to be small. Sure they can put three small gateways to the same location, but large items like wagons and such may be impossible to get across the gateways, which may limit the troops they can send quite a bit.
They may well have several damane who are powerful enough to create large gateways - it wouldn't be implausible for them to have at least one who turns out to have a Talent for it.
