That's what I thought! Asmodean had some sort of alliance with Lanfear, who spent some early time in the White Tower, so if Verin had positioned herself to at least a moderate point of power in the BA, I think it's entirely reasonable that Asmodean could have recognized her.

Now, how RJ expected us to tell that back at Book 5, I have no idea....
