I suppose RJ could've done it more subtly, and one might point out that if RJ/Sanderson had taken the time to do it more subtly and more believably, we would've been looking at several slow-moving books more before Egwene finally got where she needed to be.
I think Egwene being accepted as an Amyrlin by all AS was always going to require them taking massive doses of stupid pills. Let's not forget the scene in TPOD where no Sitter bothered to remember or check that if they declared war on Elaida they would be turning Egwene into a temporary all-powerful dictator. Or the way they dismiss Siuan just because she is not very powerful with the OP now - as if that automatically makes her a moron!
