Nevertheless, it does appear to have been a knee-jerk reaction to Rand. This could either be ta'veren effect acting in such a way that the results are very indirect but beneficial to the Pattern, or Rand's new darkness corrupting the Pattern more than aiding it.
I think Rand was perverting his ta'veren effect, which created that halo of darkness, and the Pattern needed Tuon to resist. Normally, with the ta'veren effect, the subject reacts before they can control themselves, overriding their usual behavior and personality quirks. In this case, Tuon was going to agree but she saw the dark aura around him and recoiled in horror.
Tuon's reacting was one of horror, but also she resisted him more because he was trying so hard. I wonder why the pattern would need hostilities to remain unresolved between the Dragon and the Seanchan. Personally, I really enjoyed the Tuon chapters in this book. They are probably among my favourite chapters in the series concerning the Seanchan.

I think one has to consider the Tower of Midnight in any theory

Didn't RJ say he wouldn't be writing any scenes in Seanchan proper?

This is what I think. If anything happens in Seanchan it'll just be the throne being moved *NM*

I highly doubt it will be just the throne being moved... the name of the book is Towers of Midnight

The title carries symbolic and poetic value, with or without events happening in Seanchan. *NM*

You could be right... I guess it depends on how much of the chaos in Seanchan gets wrapped up
