I agree with much of what you say. Those with too much inheirited power (whether it be magical or inheirited privilege), and/or those who assume that they deserve acknowledgement or privilege for a reason that has nothing to do with individual capability, will usually exist in stagnant institutions as you say. Its what you do, not what you are capable of doing...its who you are, not who you would have people think you are.
The Aiel sense of honor is seperate from channeling, and Egwene would still be an apprentice, or maybe running into Rhuidean with Aviendha if Aiel. With the Aes Sedai she comes across as brighter than most, which is truly pitiful. I know I like her better than you, Cannoli, but it is pitiful that she RULES, and isn't just a bright, up and coming student. I hope Tuon agrees to leave Aes Sedai and Wise Ones alone before she meets Egwene, or Egwne may receive what she dealt Elaida.

Channelers making ter'angreal for ordinary people to use (a common AoL practice, BTW) is insane? *NM*

If I recall correctly- those were the last of the 'true' Aes Sedai.

Actually the BWB or RJ said no AoL Aes Sedai survived the Breaking.

Technically, the Breaking ended when the last Male AS died, so female AS could survive past it *NM*

That could be true but I seem to recall it being said/implied that they were tasked with their duty

We can hope... but I honestly don't see it happening. It's complicated.

So, what you're saying is that Aes Sedai should actually live up to their name?
