that robs the author of many intricate plot devices. I can only hope the way mat and co "cheat" is by using the system of wishes/questions against the aelfinn/eelfinn. otherwise its not so much cheating as just ignoring the game altogether... cheating is more interesting when you find holes in the rules to your advantage, also makes better story telling
