Rand's shield was being maintained by 3 AS when he broke free, and he stilled all 3.

The reason only one AS is usually needed to maintain a shield on a woman is because they are usually close in strength. Unless someone is much stronger than the person holding the shield a weaker channeler can shield a stronger one. Cadsuanne decided to have 3 AS hold the shield as an extra precaution, not knowing what tricks Semi might know.
