I had beating a dead horse, but I have never been able to toally let the Lanfear killing Asmo theory die.
Tamyrlin's conversation possibly gives us some more fuel for this theory.
Let us re-examine the Lanfear scenario. It appears from this conversation that Lanfear may have already been granted her 3 gifts from the Finns. Brandon never confirmed anything, but he did tell us that the Finns grant their gifts based on the massive repository of One Power items that they have there.
Since Sanderson confirmed that no Dark One 'shennanigans' had been involved with Lanfear's One Power strength, we can assume that Lanfear had somehow lost some of her ability after her visit in Finnland. The most likely and obvious scenario, is that after Lanfear was killed she lost the angreal that the Finns had bequeathed to her during her original AoL visit to Finnland.
Two of the possible (but not confirmed) gifts to Lanfear appear to have been greater power (via angreal supplementation) and greater beauty (as Sanderson confirmed it is possible to enhance physical beauty via the usage of a ter'angreal).
More importantly, if we follow this train of assumptions we can make one more assumption. Lanfear didn't have any wishes left to be granted when she went through the twisted red-stone ter'angreal with Mat . This means that Lanfear had absolutely no bargaining power with the Finns!
If Lanfear had no bargaining power with the Finns, then this explains why Lanfear was held for a time by the Finns. Lanfear probably also realized that she was never going to escape. To me, this means that Lanfear either committed suicide so that she could be re-incarnated by the DO, or she was killed by the Finns.
Most importantly, following this train of assumptions (or trainwreck of assumptions if I am wrong) then this means Lanfear had no possible method to kill Asmodean. She was totally trapped by the Finns with no means of escape.

I love beating this dead horse and you made me consider the Finns. I created a post back at Theoryland: http://www.theoryland.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2724. In essence, what if Lanfear made the request but the Finns fulfilled it using an assortment of ter'angreal?
