It's clear that for some reason, she was given another chance. I've always insisted it was Lanfear. I was convinced back in 1994 by an enthusiastic friend that it had to be Fain, but my assumption when reading was Lanfear. Now that Fain isn't a candidate, it's only Lanfear in my mind.

So I'll agree with you. I always have.
