Sermihage just got a whipcord of balefire darius_sedai Send a noteboard - 29/11/2009 03:53:23 PM
I was reading TGS and i came across the part where Semirhage has Rand collared. She uses it to have Rand choke Min, but then Semirhage was balefired by Rand and the True Power. So why, if she is balefired do the bruises remain on her neck? I understand her and Rand would remember it but if Semirhage is balefired would the marks on Min's neck not disappear?

Maybe he only balefired her a few seconds out of the pattern... if he'd gone any further back he would have undone the whole scene!

i've been wondering the same question actually. my only guess is that it's due to the fact rand used the TP instead of the OP. maybe there's a difference in how much gets "reset" between balefire between the powers?

I don't see the implication that he used a lot of balefire in the text:

~The Gathering Storm
The Last That Could Be Done
Rand raised a hand and, filled with the power he did not understand, wove a single weave. A bar of pure white light, a cleansing fire, burst from his hand and struck Semirhage in the chest. She flashed and vanished, leaving a faint afterimage to Rand's vision.

compared to

~The Gathering Storm
A Force of Light
And then, with a sound like a sigh, he released it. A column of pure whiteness exploded from him and burned across the silent night sky, illuminating the trees below it in a wave. It moved as quick as a snap of the fingers, striking the wall of the distant fortress. The stones came alight, as if they werebreathing in the force of the energy. The entire fortress glowed, transforming into living light, an amazing, spectacular palace of unadulterated energy. It was beautiful."

Why would he (or 98% of WoT readers) want that? *NM* - 29/11/2009 05:37:34 AM 207 Views
Maybe because it was done with the True Power ? *NM* - 29/11/2009 06:10:26 AM 191 Views
I just thought it was a continuity error *NM* - 29/11/2009 08:14:25 AM 201 Views
