You can't seriously argue that it's more believeable that Egwene became a crucial player, than people like the three ta'veren or Nynaeve, or even Elayne and Aviendha. All of those have better abilities or had better training.
Egwene is the only character to have intensive cross-culture training! She's learned from the absolute best of the best in the Seanchan, Aiel and AS arenas.
Nynaeve has what a few years as the Wisdom of a tiny village. How does that give her more training than Egwene?
Aviendha a few months longer with the WOs than Egwene (hell most of her training time was spent away from the WO!)... being a Maiden benefits her more than being an inn keepers daughter benefits Egwene?
Elayne I'll give you has a good background base, but her lack of anything resembling a peasants POV hampers her IMO. Egwene's multi-cultural background is at least as valuable!
