The chapter icon shows the Unraveling of the Pattern, which stands for the DO's influence on the world. The Pattern/Wheel tries to repair this anomaly, though. It's another example to show that the DO becomes stronger, but on the other hand that the Pattern actively interferes to counter it.
In my view, the Pattern is similarly active by trying to bring the three ta'veren together through the swirling colors and by weaving Rand's & Moridin's linked threads into only one thread, which most likely causes Rand's sickness and him & Moridin becoming more and more alike.
