1. Given that the nature of the shadowspun is such that they are slightly out of tune with the pattern (in case of the Eyeless, a full shade out of the pattern it seems), passing through a disconnect/joint (which is how one might explain a gateway) would somehow rip the life out of their body.


It's actually what I was thinking of posting to handwave away this restriction.
