I've assumed that the only effect the Taint actually had was to break down the barriers within each person that seperates each incarnation of themself from the others. This ends up making the Tainted individual seem insane at first, but that person actually goes insane over time. Wouldn't you if all of a sudden you started having mental conversations with your own past(life) selves? I sure as hell probably would (but then, I am insane already, so ::: shrug ::: )

was there ever any consensus on this? are we just assuming that he's special? that he has some connection to previous lives as shown in the mtn top? maybe the glass columns that sent him mind questing back along his ancestry kept sending him on back subconsciously or something?
