Maybe. Datakim Send a noteboard - 04/01/2010 01:47:29 AM
It strikes me as something more profound and the a'dam is only a thousand years old. People seldom call that "ancient." The 11th Century AD is rarely referred to as ancient times, which generally connotes things that happened before the fall of the Roman Empire.

Maybe, though what we view as ancient might not match with the view of the people in WoT-World. I did a quick search with the search engine and found several usages for the word ancient. It is used to refer to Manerethen, the old queens of Caemlyn, to the war between Tear and Illian and lots of other things that are as old or younger than the Seanchan.

Also remember that this is a prophecy and those are more poetic than exact. Ancient in this context could well refer to an event just a thousand years old in my view. Such as the Damane system.

It could be their bringing order out of chaos, or perhaps their contribution to the victory, such as by stopping a Trolloc invasion as Hawkwing did, or taking down a false dragon as he did or something like that.

Maybe, this is all speculation ofcourse. We won't know what the ancient wrong is until it actually happens.

I will say that all the other lines in the prophecy have been happening in chronological order. The invasion of Falme happened first, then the weather manipulation, then the largescale bubbles that are causing bodies to fail. If this remains true, the slaying of the wrong will be something that either has yet to happen, or happened just a short time ago(in tgs perhaps?). And I think it will be something truly major and clear since all the other lines were. The abolisment of the Damane-system seemed to fit well. Better certainly than stopping a false dragon (since there arent any anymore) or bringing order(even if you consider the Seanchan governing order which I am not sure I do, it would not qualify since they have been at it a long while now already). It could refer to the separation between the two people though, and the slaying will be the joining of the two in alliance against the shadow.

Stil, one thing that I did think about that would be against this idea is that it is a DARK prophecy. Surely the shadow would not see the slavery of innocent people and all the evil that comes with it as a bad thing. From to PoV of the DO, the damane system would not be wrong at all but rather a very good thing.

Not only is it inherently evil and wrong, which the DO probably likes. But it also greatly reduces the amount of total channelers the Seanchan have since only the sparkers (and now trained AS/wise ones) actually become damane while the learners(sul'dam) never learn to channel. Since sparkers are rarer than learners, this greatly reduces the amount of Seanchan OP users ready to face the shadow.

Still if it is a prophecy its probably a foretelling by a darkfriend channeler and as i said above, those are always obscure.
