I don't think we have enough information about the TP to really say (like what the adverse effects of the addiction are), but absent this information, the TP is a weapon just like saidin or saidar. Unless you also think the latter are evil, I don't see how the TP is evil by nature. About the only bad facet I can think of about it is that it rips the pattern when Traveling, but that's just it.

He's the embodiment of pure evil and chaos. Surely that has to mean something.
Maybe later we'll find out something disastrous about it. That won't change the fact that Rand (and the rest of us) didn't know what that is, though.
