The same goes for wot. Look at Sheriam...she was very strong and (for a while) highly regarded in the Aes Sedai world. At one point, she was even a potential for the Amyrlin Seat as well. Pre-split, she was the Mistress of Novices. She chose the Black for any number of reasons, but ultimately she was very selfish. Her loss to the Black was not insignificant.
