I agree with you mainly, though (I guess just to be nitpicking) I wouldn't say that causing pain of heart is a lesser goal, rather than just a second goal. The first goal is her goal because she's set up there. Her second one is her goal if she has opportunity to pursue it. That was my interpretation, at least.
