You must have been really awed by Mat doing a "seven-ball loop" after half a year under Thom's tutelage.

That was unbelievable. Even RJ later admitted that only a handful of people in the world can do that. And they trained for YEARS.


And it took me a very long time to get the measly amount I learned down. It seemed like each ball got exponentially harder. Three wasn't too bad, but I had a hard time learning four, and five was too much for me.

Of course, I learned all this some time AFTER reading EotW, and in my naivete, I took it for granted that Mat could juggle seven balls easily .
