Soul, reincarnation, abortion. Some questions that seem rather weird now. Lordling Send a noteboard - 03/03/2010 07:47:08 PM
Randland has reincarnation. If your body gets destroyed on the 2nd Age, the Pattern (or the DO, or the Wheel, or something) snatches your soul and can insert it into your reborn body on some other Age. Which gives me a rather nasty thought of some universal soul-enema. But anyway, this made me think something else, too, and I thought I'd post a few questions.

1. At what time, exactly, are The Soul and the body united? For example, was the baby Caidal Cain a semen, a fetus, or a newborn when the Pattern took the adult Caidal Cain from TAR?

2. How will this affect the -certainly widespread- abortion discussion in Randland? Are you harming the Patter by aborting a fetus, if The Soul has been delivered? Or is it all just the will of the Pattern. Would you not be able to abort a baby up to the last week of pregnancy if the soul is delivered at the moment of birth? Do you think the Brown Ajah has panel discussions about these things?

3. Do the Gray Men and Women understand that they are probably giving up their chances of reincarnation for ever as they yield their souls to the DO? Or can a soul be reborn, even if it has been given to the Lord of Dark in one Age?

4. Why, then, does Ishamael not choose to become a Gray Man?
