RE:

First:

if i am opening a gateway into enemy territory where there may be channelers, at least i would think to invert the weave. This person wouldnt necessarily be in a rush to open a gateway without inverting.

Second: can be explained by any of the following:

a. he seemed pretty deep in thought as he opened the door and took a step inside.

b.We arent shown that he's looking into the room while stepping.

c. regardless, because the door is small, it would hide the edges of the gateway from view.

Third:

I dont have an answer. i believe the answer is the reason for such little description and/or mystery on the kill

Finally:

I believe this theory would support the Graendal camp. it would fit nicely regarding those ideas as to why she would go there.
