1. What dystopian literature have you read?

1984, Animal Farm, Handmaid's Tale, probably more that I'm not thinking of atm.

Sorry, I don't know how to do this like you did it.
2. Which was your favorite, and why?

1984. Very well written, believable, manages to show the dangers of totalitarianism without limiting its relevance by directly pointing at any one country or party.
3. Which was your least favorite, and why?

Handmaid's Tale, largely because it entirely fails at that last thing I mentioned in the previous question, and as such someone who doesn't buy the "American conservatives are gonna form a misogynistic theocracy" premise has a hard time taking the book seriously.

Aye, I think this is a discussion we've had previously. Handmaid's Tale probably hits hardest on the American readership for that very reason. I do understand that it's probably overly paranoid, despite the fact I haven't read it... but at the same time, it's one of those kinds of paranoia I share a bit in. So it should be an interesting (Read: scary) read for me.

4. Which did you find most disturbing, and why?

1984, for much the same reasons why it's my favourite I guess.

Yeah, I totally understand that.

5. Do you find it hard to read some dystopian literature because it is so disturbing?

Hm, not really... I got through 1984 easily enough.
Currently I'm reading Zamyatin's We. Anyone else ever read it? Thoughts?

No, but I've heard of it, and I should probably read it at some point.

So far it reminds me a bit of 1984, with the One State that is watching you all the time, and the rebels who have to watch their behavior very carefully.
