I think the Belgariad would segue nicely into film. The earlier Eddings stuff is pretty simple plot-wise, so there wouldn't be a lot of side stuff that needed to be taken care of.

Also, the Abhorsen trilogy by Garth Nix would turn into a nice movie series. I honestly wonder why more people don't read this book series, as it is one of the best in the Young Adult Fantasy genre.



I think The Silmarillion would translate horribly into a movie, unless it was filmed along the lines of Paris, je T'aime, in which there were 6 (I think?) short films, all about love in Paris, filmed by different directors. Actually, now that I am thinking about it, this would be really worth watching if they did something along these lines.





I prefer the film adaptations, because 50% of the time the actors are horrible matches for the parts they're portraying. Budget is generally the biggest factor in whether something is going to be worthwhile or not.
