The main reason for my love of the book are the letters, I would say. Legolas Send a noteboard - 24/07/2010 10:00:13 PM

I must have formed the impression of what it was about from one of you. Unless Legolas is the culprit. There are a limited number of people who have been telling me to read it.

The romance aspect of that is a part of the reason why, but only a part - mostly I just love the way the letters are written. I agree with Rebekah in that I'm relatively indifferent about Roland and Maud, at least as far as their relationship goes. I found Christabel far more interesting than any of the contemporary female characters (or the male ones, for that matter).

Coincidentally, it was also a digested read in the Guardian. - 09/07/2010 03:48:09 PM 1604 Views
