He made a commitment to write the books, so he damned well needs to write the books. I know his defenders are always saying shit like, "but he's given us these wonderful books, he doesn't owe us anything." To which I say: bullshit. To use an old phrase, you dance with the one who brung you. Your fans made you, dude. You can write until your fingers bleed, but without readers, you're nothing. I bought his books and he made a commitment to finish them by choosing to write them as he did. And, by his own statements. Finish the damned books, man. If you die and don't finish them because you're a jerk, then you won't be remembered as some great author. You'll be remembered as a hack who couldn't finish what he started.
I've never slammed the guy in the past but I am about fed up. I also don't like his defender's who say he doesn't owe us anything. He is an author, that is his job. If he doesn't want to write the books then fine but I have every right on our relationship to not buy any of his other books. It's just business. I'm now annoyed with him.
But hey, if he wants to piss off thousands and thousands of fans and lose millions of dollars because he is whatever (lazy, a perfectionist, has writer's block, etc.) then that is on him.
And if I feel like this then I imagine others who have waited patiently and held back from bagging on the guy are starting to feel the same way. Not a good thing for him and his job.
But wine was the great assassin of both tradition and propriety...

Not only is he a writer, but he has really only one successful series.

I said I'm "growing" to hate him. I'm not ready to pay for his death yet.

I agree but emphatically endorse use of the subjunctive "were".

You know whenever the new book is ever released, it'll sell even more copies due to the wait, right?

Truly, there's really no reason that you can't be both angry at him and planning to buy the book.
