But please excuse me, I'm currently busy falling in love with Walter Jon Williams. In fact, he deserves an honorary spot on this list, because I don't remember the last time I so loved the lead female character, written by a male author, in a hard scifi novel at that. And the books are just fantastic. I'm 3:0 so far: Dread Empire's Fall, Hardwired, and Metropolitan. How long can he keep it up, I wonder?
